Malacañang stops posting appointment papers of Duterte officials

In an article written by Pia Ranada on Rappler: In another blow to transparency, the Palace leaves it up to officials whether or not to disclose their government appointment  President Rodrigo Duterte's Malacañang has, for months, stopped proactively making public the appointment papers of new government officials.  Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque confirmed there was such a policy on Thursday, September 3, during a virtual press briefing.  "Before, we’d post it. Now our policy in the OPS (Office of the Presidential Spokesperson) is it's up to the official to post it if they want. We just have to confirm if an appoinment has been made," said Roque.  He was being asked to confirm if former National Bureau of Investigation chief Dante Gierran has been issued appointment papers because Gierran, said earlier on Thursday that he had not received them yet.  The policy taking away proactive disclosure of appointments apparently came from Executive Secretary Salvador Medial

Will LifeLine PHL break the current Guinness World Record for most organ donor pledges?

What does organ donation really entail? “The statistics for organ donation and transplantation in the country, albeit saddening, are not surprising. Because, after all, how can families even find room to think of such options when someone they love, with a beating heart and still warm to the touch, has just been declared brain dead?” shares Dr. Antonio Paraiso, Program Manager of the DOH-Philippine Network for Organ Sharing and Founder of the Human Organ Preservation Effort (H.O.P.E.). People who would put their feet into the shoes of those who have chosen to say no to organ donation would understand how it isn’t anyone’s idea of comfort, especially in such time of grief. “However, what we are continuing to advocate is the very essence of breathing life to losses—of carrying on with their stories by being lifelines to others,” says Paraiso. “Organ donors are referred to as lifelines because just one can let up to 50 people who were once captives of organ failure see, walk, breeze

The Coffee Book 2013 by Bo's Coffee

Few days ago, I received a Coffee book planner from a good friend who works at Bo's Coffee. I wasn't really expecting it because I am still unsure if I'm going to use a planner or not. My bag is kind of heavy these days and I may not be able to afford add another stuff and pretend they're light. Hey, I'm just 115 pounds and carrying a laptop, office notebook, personal journal, lunchbox, umbrella and now another planner is definitely no joke! Haha. Anyway, when she handed it to me and had the chance to scan it while asking her what's that about and what made it different from other planners I can get from other coffee brands, what she said was simple and caught me straight: It's all-in-one. The reason I don't personally use a planner for myself is that I may be busy but a planner may be really too much. The concept of planner these days changed from how people use it before. The people who collects it now are the younger market who just basically "co

Time to get some new Scrubs

Working in a nursing home for the past 10 years, I can say that I've already met almost all types of patients. Seeing them come and go has almost become a routine. They are like the uniforms and scrubs I wear daily. In time, they get old and when I'm about to change medical nursing uniforms , I get assigned to a new patient. It's hard to see them come and go. I remember the first time I entered a nursing facility, I was thinking of what to do. Cuz I will not be dealing with people of my age. They are twice or thrice my age and others are four or five times. The type of community setting they grew up from was completely different from mine. No matter how hard I convince ourselves that I grew up in the same country as theirs, community setting will never be the same. I went on major adjustments. I even learned how to lengthen my patience. There will be times that it's dinner time and they don't want to talk to anyone. Sometimes, they happen to take their medications

A Much Happy Year-End Sale!

New York is such a lovely place especially on special holidays like Christmas through New Year. Who would not want to celebrate New Year in Times Square seeing everyone do the countdown so I decided to go there with my family last 27th of December so we can celebrate it differently cuz it's either we're in Phoenix AZ or Tom's River NJ. Anyway, since NJ is just a stone throw away from NYC, it was a lot easier for me to convince my family to go there. And my first mission? SHOPPING! There were so many pop up booths that were selling these specially designed 2011 sunglasses were my sister decided to get one for herself which she would be wearing during the countdown. I was thinking of getting one too but I decided to check out other pop up trade show displays so I can have more choices. It was fun. I was not able to buy a 2011 eyeglass but I was able to purchase a 2011 hat at one of a trade show pop up . It was more like of a Chikara hat which is starting to be famous her
