A Friend in YOU!

We all have some but for a more maturity reason, how do we maintain and keep a good lasting relationship? It's hard to keep a friend and it's hurting when you don't receive the same feeling. I know you know what I'm talking. It's hard when you're existence as a friend is just taken for granted especially when everything is in good condition. Distance. It's actually the most common problem one encounters, may it be from love or from a mere friendship especially in teenage years. It's also one of the primary reasons why one forgets until the relationship goes back to a single hi hello relationship. It's sad but it really happens. Most of us have a lot of friends but how is the word "friend" originally defined? Historically, Word History : A friend is a lover, literally. The relationship between Latin amīcus "friend" and amō "I love" is clear, as is the relationship between Greek philos "friend" and phileō ...

Home"less"

Have you ever had the feeling that you only live in a house and not in a home? House- a structure made of either wood, gravel and sand, cement, irons, or combinations in which people live; a residence for human beings that provides one of the basic physiologic need - protection from endeavors. Home - a house lived by family filled with love and affection living with pleasant connotations and provides two of Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs - Safety and security, and Love and Belongingness . For almost a month now, I really feel homeless. Yes, I may have family but I don't really feel I belong. I apologize but I don't really mean to feel this way (who else does?). The habitation is calm and yet I simply find it hard to come across with tranquility. At the moment, I already have the idea of giving up everything. Maybe it's about time to give something little for myself. When I sacrificed my identity, I left nothing for myself except only the feeling of expectation that...

Their Real Battle

This is our first day of clinical duty at EENT department. I am excited as curiosity pours my mind about what is done in this department for I haven’t been in exposed in areas like Out-Patient Department nor to a JICA unit. As we are new to the area, our instructor oriented us in the different parts of OPD Department. Unfortunately, I was not assigned at the ophthalmology care unit because only two students were to be designated to take the area. Instead, I was assigned at the Acute Psychiatric Unit together with my 2 classmates. We were laughing because we were titled “BS Nursing major in Vital Signs”. To make the task easy for the three of us, we worked as a team and not as individual nurses handling one client each. Nerie was assigned in taking client’s respiratory rate as she document the vital signs taken. Noel was assigned to take the blood pressure of the client as he waits for the thermometer to take effect to get the client’s temperature. Lastly, I was assigned to take the cli...

Child Abuse and Maltreatment

I do not exactly know the reason why I feel stupid about myself. I do not know it it is because I'm so attached with righteousness (which i strongly believe I don't) and just can't do anything about what's going wrong because I do not have the power. Each one of us may have the authority to do changes to make even at least a little difference but not all have the courage to do it. And I guess most of the time, I don't have the courage to initiate and make changes. I blame the time for moving so slow or the fate for bringing me where I am now for the wrong time. It's already late in the evening but I'm just only about to go and make my way home. While walking on the dark street to make it on my way home, I heard a rearing potpot sound. I didn't looked back for I know it's just some old man selling balut over his pedicab. but i was wrong. the vendor passed me and all i saw is some 10-year child taking the risks of what might happen to him every time t...

An Overview with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

The immune system is a combination of specialized blood cells called white blood cells and the chemicals they secrete called the antibodies. The body recognizes foreign cells or organisms, such as viruses and bacteria. It fights them using both white blood cells and antibodies. The white blood cells and antibodies find the foreign material and destroy it by breaking down. The immune system is very good from protecting us from microbes and viruses. Unfortunately, sometimes the immune system mistakes body cells for foreign material, causing the immune system to attack the body itself. This self-destruction causes inflammation and damages various body tissues. When the immune system mistakes the body cells for foreign material, an autoimmune disease results. Lupus is a condition of chronic inflammation caused by an autoimmune disease. Patients with lupus produce abnormal antibodies in their blood that target tissues within their own body rather than foreign infectious agents. Because the ...

Bipolar over SLE

I never thought that those who are actually weak and err...incompetent will actually predominate in making the decision over the competent and intellect ones because of a votation thing. so happy (duh?!)

some spice

I'm always used to this bitter taste. Aromatic as bitter coffee may seem but what lies behind is still the undeniable bitter taste that each coffee bean brings for every sip I take. Because of knowing it's coffee that i'm taking in, I forgot to appreciate the presence of sugar that adds sweetness and aroma each time i take a sip Life's having a cup of coffee. You sit by the window, lift the cup and take a careless sip...only to realize that somebody forgot to put the sugar. too lazy to go for it, you somehow struggle through that sugarless cup..till you discover undissolved sugar crystals sitting at the bottom. That's how life is..we do not make an effort to value what's with and around us...So look around...maybe the sweetness that we are looking for is closer than what we think!
